Event Information

The Quinns Quest Swim-Run events hosted by Team XTR will take place on on:

  •  Tuesday 26 January 2021 - Quinns Quest #1

  •  Monday 01 March 2021 - Quinns Quest #2

These Team XTR hosted club events offer short fast course racing in the traditional Swim-Run format but provide an event format that is suitable for all age groups including both kids, junior and novices distances.   While this is a Team XTR hosted club event, other TA/TriWA registered club members can enter.  If you are new to the sport and are not a member you will be required to purchase a Triathlon Australia one-day-licence (ODL) for insurance purposes.

 In the multisports industry the Run-Swim-Run format is often referred to as an Aquathlon which can vary in sequence and distance.  These events offer a variety of formats, short fast racing and with an emphasis of lots of fun!!

  • Use these races to get some race conditioning - do one leg, two legs or all but get out and have fun!

  • The swim leg is within the secure Quinns Rocks Beach eco-net barrier and run on the coastal path.

  • Each event includes and Enduro Sprint multi-leg race- fast but fun!  This race is free to registered entrants to the Short and Long course race.

 

General Race Information

Date/Time - Quinns Quest #1:  - Tuesday 26 January 2021 / 7:00am

Date/Time - Quinns Quest #2:  - Monday 01 March 2021 / 7:15am

Location:   Start/Finish at Quinns Rocks Beach, Ocean Drive, Quinns Rocks,  WA .  Registration check-in and Transition is on the grass area in front of Portofinos restaurant (next to Quinns Mindarie Surf Club)

Race Distances

 Tin Lids –  100m Swim / 500m Run

  • Junior 7 to 11 years

 Short –  300m Swim / 1km Run / 150m Swim / 1km Run

  • Junior 12 to 15 years

  • Junior 16 to 19 years - suitable for all junior and junior elite athletes 16 -19 years

  • Novice - suitable for all beginner and novice athletes 12 years and older

 Sprint300m Swim / 1.5km Run / 150m Swim / 1.5km Run

  • Junior 14 to 19 years - suitable for all junior and junior elite athletes 14 -19 years

  • Open/Senior - Individual

Enduro Sprint – 150m Swim / 500m Run / 150m Swim / 500m Run / 150m Swim / 500m Run

  • Junior 14 to 19 years and junior elite athletes 16 -19 years

  • Open/Senior - Individual

Course Format

 For all races the format will be:

  • Swim - 1 x lap

  • Run  - 1 x lap (out and back on coastal path)

Course Terrain 

 Swim - All swim legs are within the protected eco-barrier nets on Quinns Rocks Beach.

 Run - The run legs are all along the coastal path, however participants must first navigate off the beach to the transition area.  Note - It is compulsory to wear footwear as the coastal path is concrete and without footwear will risk injury to athletes.   A designated transition area is provided on the run-out lap to dispose of or put on shoes.

Registration Pickup

  • Registration is online only.

  • All athletes must 'check-in' at the registration desk on race morning.

  • Number allocations and race number body marking will take place race morning.

  • Swim Caps are 'bring-your-own' and are mandatory.  If you need a cap or forgot yours the organisers will have some high quality silicone caps available for $5 during check-in on race morning.

 Also ensure that both your arms marked with your race number on race morning.  This will be available during registration 'check-in' on race morning.

Bag Drop

A formal bag drop area is not available on race day, however entrants can leave their bag at the registration/recovery area at the finish where race volunteers will be located.   Please note that is not controlled so competitors leave their bag at their own risk.
 

Race Briefing

Race briefings will be held 10 minutes prior to each race start near the transition and finish area.

Wave Categories

 Wave divisions and and start times are listed below and subject to change based on entry numbers.

Start Waves  (Updated 04 February 2020. Note -  subject to change without notice, including additional waves)

  1.   7:15 - Kids  - 7 to 11 yrs

  2.   7:45 - Short 

  3.   7:45 - Sprint

  4.   8:40 - Enduro Sprint

Presentations

All presentations will take place at approximately 8:45am - 9:00am onwards at the finish area. The presentations times are subject to change and will start earlier if ahead of schedule. 
 

Race Divisions

Participants will participate in one of the following categories:

  • Kids -  7-11 Yrs

  • Short - 12-19 Yrs,  20-24 yrs,  25-29 Yrs. . . . . 65-69,  70+

  • Sprint  -  14-19 Yrs,  20-24 yrs,  25-29 Yrs. . . . . 65-69,  70+ 

  • Enduro Sprint  -  14-19 Yrs,  20-24 yrs,  25-29 Yrs. . . . . 65-69,  70+ , Teams

 

Note:

  • Age is calculated in align to TA policy as at 31st of December 2020.

  • No seperate Open Category awards are available. 


Prizes

 While this event is all about participation and fun, the sponsors will provide the following prize awards to:

  • Tin Lids (Kids 7-11Yrs) - 1st Male and female overall - sponsor prize

  • Short course - 1st Junior Male and female overall - sponsor prize

  • Sprint course - 1st Male and female overall - sponsor prize

  • Enduro Sprint - 1st Male and female overall - sponsor prize

**Note:

Note:  All place prizes on the day are only valid if you are personally present to receive the award at the prize giving on race day.  If you are not present at the race day prize giving the prizes will be made available for award at subsequent events.

Parking

Parking will be available next behind the Quinns Rocks Beach surf club and some limited parking is available also along Ocean Drive.    While the event is short and starts early, it is a popular location so we recommended to arrive early to ensure a spot and allow plenty of time for registration check-in.  Please be aware that all parking regulations enforced by the Council will apply throughout the course of the event so please refer to their parking signs for more details.

Participants and supporters should take note of restrictions in regard to access to the beach via designated walkways and not enter dunes areas – please refer to and take note of the appropriate access signs.
